The Workshop Difference

What sets a dedicated watchmaking bench apart from a counter service.

One Watchmaker Per Piece

Each watch is assigned to a single craftsperson from intake through to return. No handoffs between technicians.

Written Condition Register

Every intake begins with a signed document noting what was found, what was adjusted, and what was left as-is.

Named Lubricants

We list the specific lubricants used at each friction point. Moebius 9010 for the escapement, D5 for the keyless works — no generic blends.

Timing Printout Before & After

A timegrapher report is generated at intake and again at completion, so the improvement is documented rather than described.

Photographic Documentation

Restoration and archive-grade jobs include staged photography so the owner has a record of the calibre disassembled and cleaned.

Recall at Any Stage

Owners may request the piece back at any point during the work. Progress is communicated fortnightly on longer jobs.

A Watch That Runs Well Is Worth Keeping

Bring your mechanical or automatic timepiece to the Jalan Ampang workshop. We will assess it at the bench and tell you plainly what it needs.

Workshop Questions

Answers to the most common enquiries before a piece arrives at the bench.

How do I send in my watch?
You may drop the piece in person at Lot 12-3, Wisma Cendera, Jalan Ampang during workshop hours, or post it using a registered, insured courier. We recommend removing any straps that are not original. Please call ahead — +60 3 2078 4613 — so the bench is expecting it.
What does the intake assessment involve?
The watchmaker places the piece on the timegrapher, notes the current rate and amplitude, and examines the case exterior for damage. A condition register is written and signed before any work begins. For complicated pieces, assessment may take a day or two.
How long will the work take?
Movement service runs two to three weeks depending on part availability. Case and dial restoration takes three to five weeks. Archive-grade overhaul of complicated calibres runs eight to sixteen weeks, with fortnightly progress notes to the owner.
Are there watches you will decline to service?
Yes. Pieces with severe corrosion, missing or destroyed keyless works, or calibres for which no replacement parts exist may be assessed but declined if the outcome would not meet the workmanship standard. We will say plainly if a piece is better left alone.
What lubricants are used?
The materials note in each service record lists lubricant names and application points. Common lubricants used include Moebius 9010 at the pallet stones, 8000 on the barrel arbor, D5 in the keyless works, and HP1300 on the mainspring. Gaskets are replaced with the appropriate silicone or rubber compound at each service.
What coverage is included after the work?
Movement service includes twelve months of workmanship coverage on the labour performed. If a problem traceable to the bench work arises within that period, the piece returns for assessment at no additional charge. Coverage does not extend to new damage from impact or water ingress beyond the rated depth.
